Rotary Valve shaft exchange

I've problem with worn rotary valve shaft on my 582 mod99 engine that need to be replaced. I have a spare rotary valve shaft form our older engine 582 mod90 that still in good condition.
Does anyone know whether rotary valve shaft from mod 90 can be used in 582 mod99 or not? Or maybe anyone having experience of swapping this shaft before? is that possible to do so?
