New 912 will not turn over by hand

I am building an RV 12 in Scotland.
The new engine has been installed but not connected to any controls or power.
Cannot hand turn the prop more than 90 deg in any direction without it hitting a stop. Plugs are out and no oil in the engine.
Engine still under warranty and problem has been referred to U.K. Rotax Distributor but waiting for response.
No obvious reasons for this such a sticking valve etc.
Any thoughts.

    Did someone leave the crankshaft lock pin in place?? Also, we had 912 in a local shop that swallowed a small locknut via the air intake tract that jammed between the piston crown edge / cylinder head thus preventing piston movement beyond a certain point. Unlikely in your case but who knows?!?

    Thanks for your fast response to my problem.
    The crankshaft locking pin is not there. In fact did not even receive one with the engine i.e. No tool kit.
    Have some limited knowledge of the 912 ULS as I fly a Eurofox Glider tug every weekend.
    As regards any foreign objects causing this problem that cannot be ruled out but I am reluctant to do any dismantling until the Rotax Distributor decides what to do. Looks like I may have to resign myself to removing the engine.

    Pull off the plastic flywheel cover plate on the back of the engine.It may only be the flywheel hitting a trigger coil pickup. This has happened. Make sure the air gaps are correct on each trigger coil around the flywheel. This is easy to do.

    Thank you Roger you may well be right.
    I will need to remove the engine as there is very little room between the cove plate and the firewall in an RV 12.
    I thought that I would probably have to remove the engine anyway once the U.K. Rotax Distributor contacts me.

    Problem solved.
    Removed the engine and discovered that the flywheel cam was being fouled by a trigger coil pick up.
    This was the last thing to check and fortunately it was easily rectified and the engine went back the same day.
    Building continues and thanks for all all the feedback I received.
