Hi guys, can you tell me what is the part number of the shim or shims used to re shim the gearbox on a 912S?
You change also for new springs? or you just shim and tight the pressure of the dogs?

Thanks
JM

    Hi JM,
Look in the Parts manual as they are listed there.
    part # 927401 is a .2
    part # 927402 is a .5
    part # 927403 is a 1.0

You may need a couple of each to make the right combo.

    Thank you Roger!
I check the magnetic plug and it showed just a little bit of metal, almost nothing but I am sure that my vibration problem is in the gearbox, so I built my own tools to separate the gearbox and to block the crackshaft with a 8 mm bolt machinned in the lathe to peel the threads at the end and I rounded the tip.

Tomorrow I will machine the disc with a channel welded to fit in the press and remove the gear and the clutch, my gearbox have a clutch.

I see that the clutch is closed very primitive way with a dimple in two places, to open the clutch and check the discs is ok to un dimple it to open? or the complete clutch must be changed new?

My engine only have 166 hrs but the vibration is making me mad because I have done everything and it is not solved until now and my propeller is perfect in balance and in pitch.

    Best regards

Leave the clutch alone. That isn't the issue and it has so much torque you'd need a special jig and extension bar to pull it apart. It's nothing you can fix and parts for the time being just need replacement. If you haven't been trained to work on a gearbox I wouldn't do it.

Ok Roger, I will not touch the clutch, I am a turbine mechanic and I have done very delicate work so I though that I could inspect the clutch discs but I will not touch it.
I built my tool to remove the gears in the hydraulic press and I did it because here I have all the tolos and machines to make it and I built it with some left metal parts .
I already ordered the different thickness shims to make a tighter fit because I am sure there is my vibration problem.
I protected the delicate edge from scratches and also the surface finish of the shaft.
I don´t know here but some parts of the turbines can´t be handled with the bare or naked hand you must use gloves because the acidity and salinity of your body can cause corrosión in many very delicate parts.

It may not just need re-shimming. It may have other wear like the dog gear and you should probably replace the phenolic washer to. You need to have the experience to examine the other parts,

    p.s.
Dump that oil filter. It's not even close to suitable for the 912 and may cause some more expensive repairs down the road.
