914 Fuel Pump Assembly Pressure Testing

Hi,

I understand to test the fuel pump assembly (on the bench) you close off the outlet and attach a differential pressure gauge on the inlet.

What is the proper testing pressure? My kit company (The Airplane Factory) says 1.8 bar (26 psi), but I want to make sure that's the right number.

    If the Manifold pressure goes to 40" Hg (~20psi) then 26 psi will be plenty to still push fuel into the cabs with a few psi to spare.
    You will only be pushing that pressure limit when you are approaching the vacuum of space.
    If you keep it below 20,000ft you will only need ~15psi to move the fuel.

    Look up the manufacturer and model number stamped into the side of the pump to see the specs of what you actually have.
    1.85 bar is a common static pressure while still delivering 40L/h at 1.6 bar for medium pressure pumps.

    Hi Bill,
    Thanks for the reply. I'll go with the 1.85 bar as that seems to be the consensus of what I've been reading.
    I actually did try to look up info about that pump (it's a TI Automotive), but had no luck finding it on their website.

    "TI" is the name "Walbro" uses in foreign markets...
    They probably use the same numbers.

    What numbers are on the pump?

    I've attached a close photo of the side with all the numbers. The other side just says "TI Automotive". I couldn't find it on their website.

    That is a Pierburg Model E1F-7.21440.78. --- 1.85 bar
