Hi,

I have installed BUDS 4.1.0 on a Windows 11 Lap Top and connected  a new Rotax Level 2 Dongle to

Splitter Serial  cable to connect to Lane A and Lane B  DB 9 outputs on my Tecnam 912iS  P2008.

The Dongle Light changed from Steady to Blinking.

I turned Master Switch on and then turned on Lane A and B switches.

I did not run Engine.

But for some reason BUDS has not connected to Engine ECU as per photo as no Engine Type or S/N

are displayed.

I have watched Rotax Video as well, but cannot find any documented procedure to show all the steps

needed to connect BUDS to ECU?

I must be missing a step?

Any suggestions please?

Thank you.

Lance

    Hi Lance

Go to the heavy maintenance manual.  There is a section on the BUDS and it discripes how to connect the system step by step.

    chapter 76-10-00

    Cheers

Three things to check. Turn battery power on, turn key switch for both A&B on and any switches for the ignition in your plane, turn backup / emergency power switch on. You should see the A&B Lane lights up in the top left hand corner of the screen light up green to show you are connected. Pick the correct BUDS screen you want to use. Pay attention to the screen during downloads and or fault log clearing as it tells you to either turn off the backup power and in a few moments to turn it back on or to cycle the switch off the back on depending on what you're doing.

    Hi, Lance -

I second what Roger shared. I have a Rotax 912iS and use a BUDS dongle.

In order for my BUDS to register the ECU data, I need to turn on the Master switch, both Lane A and Lane B switches AND the ECU back-up battery switch.

That wasn't explicitly clear in the video I watched, either :)

    Hope this helps.

    P.S.

I always put the plane battery on a charger and plug in my laptop computer while doing this. The system may be on for a while and you don't want a battery dying in the process.

    Hi Roger and Mark,

    Many thanks for your replies.

Before I read them I went back to Tecnam and actually turned on the Back Up Battery in addition to Master and Lane A & B Switches.

Indeed yes, that made the difference as you said it would.thanks.

Will go back in a few days and pay more attention than I did today, to turning off and on the Back Up Switch so the ECU  correctly Cycles through its down load routines.

Now I just need to find where all the Logs that were extracted are actually filed ???

Will read Chapter 76-10-00 as well.

    Thank You
