914 legal in a Sport Cruiser?

LSA rules do not prohibit the use of a turbocharger.

Look into a Bristell.  Www.Bristellaircraft.com.  There are several 914 turbo Bristell aircraft flying around the USA.  Mostly out west.

You may be okay with the 912. The Pilot Operating Handbook shows the service ceiling to be above 15,000 with the 912ULS.

   I have a naturally aspirated 912 (IS). I cruise at 10,000 ft and have been up to 13,500 ft the legal limit without O2 here. All without problems at 10k I am still climbing at 500 ft/min.

Yes turbo would be better, but unless you need to climb quickly and have a big margin over and above 10k it may not be necessary.

i have a 914 on a Sting sport and a 912ULS on a ICP Savannah. They both climb up to 10.000 easily. In the US , under the LSA rule, you are not allowed to operate a variable pitch/constant pitch propeller. The only way to get the full potential/Hp out of a 914 is with a propeller that is either constant speed or variable pitch. With a ground adjustable you make compromises in terms of power output. So a 912ULS will be just fine for you. You can install a 914 under LSA rules, but with a ground adjustable prop you won’t get what you’re looking for. Of course you’ll get some extra power but not what ROTAX manual says. So, stick to the 912.
