I don't know of any around that area, but there is a good guy with reasonable prices I have dealt with before. His name is Joe Grahek in Cadillac MI. He can send you a shipping crate to fedex the engine to him. You can also contact Roger Lee the administrator of this site who works on Rotax. His website is listed under his name. He can talk to you about shipping details if you can't find anyone local.

    Joes email is:

    joegrahek@netonecom.net

That would be a last resort, and I am not there yet. I am stating to see the down side to this sport, and my feet have not left the ground. This sucks!

    Dave,

That choice is up to you. I hope you don't give up on your dreams because of a few bumps in the road early on. People have been wishing they could fly for 200,000 years. People today wish they could fly but live in poverty and will never have the means to do it. You live in the greatest country, with beautiful scenery, and already have a plane. When you are lying in a nursing home years from now, remembering the high points in your life, and your regrets, how will you view your decision about flying?

That is what I ask myself. I got discouraged after an engine failure which required a full engine rebuild, and I had to rebuild the fuselage also. I gave up flying for a few years, but thought about the above statement and got back on the horse. I'm glad I did. It's so amazing seeing the earth drop away below your feet, and seeing the world from a totally different perspective. I always feel so good after flying. It clear my head and your problems melt away.

If money is tight, you could ask around for a good Jet ski mechanic. The technology is similar.

It is not the money, not yet but at this rate I can see that happening in the future. I have tried to have a sea doo mechanic look at the motor, but when you mention what it is attached to they will not consider it, liability issues I guess. Still searching through Craigslist, have found a guy with a mechanical engineering degree who specializes in electronics. Waiting for travel expense money quote.
