Mikuni fuel pump

I understand that Mikuni has redesigned their DF-52 fuel pump for the 582 Blue Head. The new pump, DF52-73 has the outlet hose connections bent up and overall the shape is slightly changed but is still round. Some main aviation parts suppliers are replacing the original round pump with a square one model DF52-136. Does anyone have any information about the modified fuel pump..better, worse or any information on why they changed the design?
