Torque on 582 spark plugs

Changed 100's of plugs over the years on all sorts of kit. So now I do the right thing and get a new good quality test torque wrench. Spark plugs are 27 NM - but I'm afraid I chicken out before tightening this tight on a cold alloy engine. Anyone else find 27nm a bit tight?
