Hey guys.
It’s my first time posting here.

I have a question about Mag check.

When I run up to 4000RPM and I flip off the switch for Right Mag, I’m actually getting a huge RISE in RPM(500-1000). At least what my Tach shows. I’m not sure that it feels like I’m actually hearing the engine rev to those RPMs. It seems to still run smoothly during that check and almost sounds the same as when doing the Left mag check. Left mag drop is 80-90 RPM.

-I switched plugs out and did a check(same issue).

-I have another 582 and took the Left black box off and swapped with the one on the installed engine. Because when switching Right mag switch off, I’m running on Left mag, correct?  (Same issue).

- checked wires for breakage, chaffing, etc. (No defects noted).

- checked mag switches(no defects noted).

This seems to all be happening after I just installed a new voltage regulator. But I didn’t touch any wires doing that other than the wires going to the regulator. Pretty much plug and play. But everything was fine until after that. Not sure if it could be related or not. Regulator seems to be working, because it is showing a proper charge on battery while engine is running.

If anyone could throw some ideas of what it could be, I’m all ears! Thanks in advance.
