Hello All
I have a Rotax 582 blue head that is running perfectly. When I went to inspect it I noticed a pool of dirty oil above crank case seal. It is at the top of

where the gearbox (c) attaches to the motor. Is this something that needs to be addressed right away or can it wait another 50 hours till my next maintence inspection? I know Bill will have some good advice on this issue. Thanks for the help. I have attached a picture of where the oil is pooling.

    Hi Steven,

If it's just a nuisance ooze that you just wipe off it will be a watch item until your next inspection, but if you really have oil pooling, running or dripping or it gets worse than an ooze then you may need to address this now.

Thanks for the reply. I busted edited my question cause I noticed that the pool of dirty oil was above the crankshaft seal. It is at top of where the gearbox connects to motor. Does that change snything?

How many hours has it done and how long since an overhaul? The seals dry out over time - might be time to consider it?

If oil is leaking from crankcase, the fuel that was mixed with it has evaporated. Its a fuel/oil leak you are looking at.

This will lean out your mixture on that cylinder. Not a good thing.....I would get the crank seals replaced.
