Air bubbles and low fuel present in the glass tube type air filter concerned me. So I replaced the fuel filter's rubber mounts, cleaned the filter, installed a new fuel pump, new primer, new fuel lines(except one tiny one) and checked the pulse line.
After replacing everything and running the 582 between 4500 and 6000 rpm's everything seemed to be working, no more bubbles, and adequate fuel in the glass tube. I put the plane back in the hangar and tied it down and started packing up my tool box when I heard what sounded like water pouring into a fiberglass sink from a water faucet. Nope.... it was fuel running from this little line onto the floor of my plane. The short line between the shut off valve and the filter. During inspection it had seemed flexible and looked fine other than the discoloration (typical) so I decided not to replace it. I know what your thinking... replaced every line, but, this one???
Apparently the line's functionality had been compromised due to vibration, fuel, and time and somehow I caused it not to seal by moving the filter. I do not know why it did not come apart during maintenance?
Attached is a pic after I replaced it.

You should use some real fuel hose. It should be either Teflon (expensive), rubber (standard fuel hose)or my least favorite the clear plastic re-enforced. This last hose is not UV protected and is more susceptible to splits or breakage especially when it's really cold.
The plain non re-enforced plastic polyurethane hose really isn't good fuel line. It's more a hold over from the old days, but I still see it. Normal good standard fuel hose replacement tie is 5 years.

    p.s.
The fuel and oil hose in the cowl should , but be in fire sleeve.

    p.s.s.
It isn't unusual to see air in a fuel filter depending on where and how it is mounted. It isn't usually an issue. There are a few exceptions.
