Hey guys , I have fitted the new 582 in the lightwing LW-1 and I am now at the oil injection set up/ mount stage(as old 582 was pre-mix).
My problem is the oil injection reservoir fitment, There is not a lot of room under the hood to mount it as shown in pic on top of the head. however I have enough room to fit it between the fire wall and engine.
With the plane sitting on its tail wheel( not level) the bottom of the reservoir sits just slightly higher than the intake on the oil pump. The fitment instructions says the oil reservoir is gravity fed to the pump , I'm worried about take off as it would certainly be lower.
My thoughts are it is fine as the pump should pump oil regardless of reservoir hight and as the reservoir is higher when engine is shut down there will be no air bubbles.sound right?
Also do you need to purge the vent screw before EVERY start up?
No worries thank guys

    Hi there

I would try to place oil tank as high as you can and keep as full as you can to get a head . The line must have a inline strainer in it as well with not to many bends in it to slow down flow . You have to bleed the system first time after fitting pump and line by the bolt on the pump the first hour would run premixed to be sure . Never ever let it run out of oil or you will not have a second go engine wil be stuffed . One trap you have to check if the 582 if didn,t have oil injection fitted from new the rotary valve shaft is normally to short so will not drive pump longer ones where fitted to oil injected motors . You will have to check this :)

    Good luck
