Hi again Roger...I use a diy manometer to balance the carbs...using it to adjust the throttle idle screws and to set the free play on the cable to get a synchronized pull....my CHTs and EGTs are almost perfectly matched...so I'm happy with it in that regard,

But as for the idle mix...all I have done there is to just turn out the mixture screws as the manual suggests....from memory both 3/4 turn or is it 1/2...but it was the book fig,

Should I try to set the idle mix more accurately and would you also do that with a manometer,

after a few mins of running I can get a fairly smooth running motor at 2500rpm and very smooth above that...at 2000rpm it just bobs about a bit...but I avoid low RPM if I can to stop the box chattering,

But when I had my bogging prob on Sunday I don't think I was on the ball as much as I should have been.

    Nick.

    Hi Nick,

Sounds like you have a good handle on things. I would do just as you suggested and that is to keep my rpm up just a tad while you have those long waits to take off. Even with the 912 it is advisable to keep a little extra rpm just to keep things smooth with less vibration and or loading up with that low long run rpm. Low rpms really isn't good for long waits if you can help it on either engine.
