Need to overhaul my rotax 582 (s/n 7241679) and cannot find a manual - can anyone give me link to a pdf?

Also have sheared off one of the bolts that holds the exhaust manifold to the block. Two questions:
1). What is best way to extract the broken part? Any clever techniques?
2) How do I proceed to undo the other bolts without shearing them off?

582 is a pretty common engine - surely there could be a 582 section same as the 912 section on the forum.

Thanks,
Andrew

For all intents and purposes, you are in the "582" section of the forum. (The 582 being the only ROTAX "2-stroke" aircraft engine that is still in production.)

ROTAX currently does not publish the 582 "overhaul manual". But there is a Maintenance Manual, Installation Manual, IPC and Operator's Manual.

All the available 582 Manuals may be downloaded from our Engine Manuals page, under the "2 Stroke Engines" section near the top.

Soak the bolts in your favorite penetrating oil overnight.
Torch the heads of the bolts until they are red hot.
Once the glow just disappears, use an impact wrench, or a socket and long breaker bar, to crack them loose.

If you shear the heads off...
    Soak some more and reheat.
If you can get a hold on the broken bolts with vice grips, try that.
If not, Weld a nut to the end of the bolt's remains and put a socket wrench on the nut.

Once you get any motion on the bolts, add more oil and keep rocking back and forth.
    Patience is a virtue!

None of this is going to be fun.

Tighten them slightly first before you try and loosen...heat is your friend here.

Lots of good vids on youtube how to remove broken studs...and loosen ones that may break.

I would never risk those ease out bits that you can buy...if the break in the stud you are in trouble.
