B Box problem

I have a prov 8 503 (DCDI) that came with s challenger tall redrive. I removed it o install a B Box. Here is the problem. MY B Box (good condition used) will not sit flush on the engine. There is about a .040 gap all around the mating surface. I purchased a new o-ring from a rotax shop and that is not the problem. With the o-ring removed there is still about a .030 gap. I have never heard of a b box requiring a shim but that is what it seems is the only fix... Anyone ever had this problem? Len.
