503UL starter options

Hi,
I recently acquired an old 503UL engine; points ignition and pull start. I'd like to convert it to electric start, but I'm gagging at the $600-$800 US prices for new starter kits. Used stuff shows up on ebay periodically, but its for snow/water craft, and mounting looks completely different from what I see advertised for the UL engine.
Is there anyone on this forum that's familiar with both the aviation 503UL and the 503s used in watercraft/snowmobiles, that can tell me if those starters can be made to work with the UL engine? Will they bolt up to the UL's fan housing, or would that housing need to be changed to make the starter work? Will the ring gear bolt up in place of the pull start assy?
