    Hi Roger.
I bought one of these AC tester's ,EXTECH DV30 (ac voltage / non contact detection from 12v to 600v). I can't get within 1 foot of the engine and it will go off. the tester is like in your pictures ,but has a sensitivity setting , on the lowest sensitivity it goes off any time I get close to the engine. This brand that you show , you can run along individual wires one at a time ? it will distinguish wires a few inches apart that are working and not working ?

    Hi Kevin,

That is a pretty sensitive probe. The one I have won't activate until I get right on the wire so other wires in the area aren't a problem.

    Thanks Roger,

I will try to find one less sensitive. I don't have a problem , but I really like the idea of being able to test the wires.
