Oil overflow

Hi,

I read many posts about diesel or bad gas can contaminate the oil tank. I have this problem 2 times, 1 last year and yesterday. Problem is coming after 1 month without starting the engine both time. This winter I replaced the mechanical gas pump, oil hoses and empty my gas tank because I removed my wing. I flew around 10hours since the maintenance and no problem. 1 month park and overflow near the stick loop. I turn off my main gas switch all time. Someone have an idea?

Do you know a place around Gatineau,QC or Ottawa where I can test my oil for prestone,gas,diesel?

Shell gas 91 and Aeroshell oil for rotax

Hi Tommy,

Quick question. Is your oil tank mounted within the Rotax height spec or is it mounted too low.

Hi Roger,

I have read about this and this could explain my problem, if the oil tank is mounted too low. But I don't understand the 400mm.

Here a picture of my setup. The bottom of the ribbon is 400mm, so I don't understand the 400mm with the oil pump, it's much lower of the engine.

Could you take a look and let me know if the oil tank is too low.

I will purge the system soon. If the oil level return to normal, this probably confirm that the engine losing prime and no contamination.
