Cylinder Wall Pit

1999 912ULS. Compression in #4 cylinder dropped from 78/80 last year to 62/80 this year, no symptoms or anything out of spec with rings. Any theories on what would affect cylinder the wall after 25 years? Pit is under the second ring at TDC. TIA
