I need to try staking a valve.  Will I be able to remove the rocker arms without the special spring alingment tool they use in the manual? I hope the shaft will just slip out at TDC or I can collapse the lifters to release the pushrod pressure?  Thanks, Dave

Disclaimer: "Staking" the valves is not a procedure outlined in any Rotax maintenance manuals and may cause serious damage if attempted. If you suspect carbon is preventing the valve from closing properly, remove the cylinder head, clean it, and lap the valves. If you lack the proper tools or training, send the cylinder head to a trained Rotax technician (iRMT) or a designated Rotax service or repair station. Remember, this is an aircraft engine and must be treated with the utmost care for your safety.

The rocker arm shaft should move freely with finger pressure when the engine is at TDC. If you need to tap, press, or push the rocker arm shaft with force, it indicates that the cylinder head has overheated and a hardness test will be required.
