Hi everyone

According to Rotax914 M.M i have to replace fuel pumps due to 5 years life limitation.

since i have not faced any problem with the fuel pumps , is there any formal procedure or check can i perform to extend the life limit of the fuel pumps more than 5 years.

thank you in advance

Thanks for posting this, I had not seen this new requirement.  The previous 914 MML (Edition-2) did not have this requirement, but I see that it was added to Edition-3. In Edition-2, the fuel pumps were not listed under Time Limits, however in the maintenance schedule there was a requirement to replace the main pump (only) at 1000 hours. Considering this new requirement, it does not seem that there is any option to replacing the pumps every 5 years.

I’m curious about the justification for this. The injected engines use a similar electric pump set up, but are higher pressure than the 914 pumps.  So it makes me wonder if a 5-year replacement requirement will be coming for these pumps also.

I was hoping someone close to Rotax would jump in on this topic. I have a friend with a 914 that’s at 5 years but only a couple hundred hours. I realize the mechanical fuel pumps on the 912 have rubber diaphragms and are not serviceable, so there is justification for a 5 year time limit.  However the 914 pumps are electric, and I would like to know why Rotax has added a 5 year time limit to these pumps. Is this possibly a misprint in the 914 MML, left over from the 912 MML?  It would seem like the rubber coupling tubing between the components in the pump set could be replaced in a similar way as the 912iS pumps are renewed (at the 5 year rubber change).
