hi everyone

i made a mistake while cleaning the Rotax 914 UL  turbocharger ball and spring  i installed the ball then the spring which lead the oil not to reach to the turbocharger while running the engine, white and black smoke also  came  from the exhaust  also there are some oil drops from the exhaust after shutting the engine off , i checked the turbocharger fan it is looser than normal and wiggling when spin it by hand.

probably i need to either replace the turbocharger or overhaul it.

can any when help me regarding the overhaul process? do i need to send it to Rotax or can i do it by myself?

and is it available to get access to overhaul manual and how?

thank you

    Hello Jordan

The 914 maintenance manual heavy, MMH, has all the inspection steps to check if you failed the center section of the turbo.  If you have failed it then start to look for a new turbo, the center section is not repairable or for sale from Rotax.  If you use a third party repair that would be up to you.  As long as it is registered as an experimental.

The turbo is on condition and there is no approved overhaul process.

    Cheers
