Gil...check your part numbers on the side of the SMD modules. They should both be the same, never mix the part numbers. A type 912, 80HP or a type 914 were only 9/1 compression ratio and did not really require the soft start.
The module, when connected to 12V power for start, gives a delay but both modules must be connected. The flywheel is what changes the timing from a 4BTDC start to a 3 ATDC start. The run timing is the same at 26 BTDC

Thanks! I verified that the flywheel is the 3 ATDC. Module P/Ns are the same. They both switch with the 12V. I'm just going to leave it disconnected. It starts very smooth without it.
