Not running a vacuum pump on my 912 UL and the gear has been removed.  Hole is plugged with what looks to be an aluminum cap plug which is seeping oil.  I can’t find any instructions on how to remove this plug.  I do have a new O ring.  Looking for instructions on how to remove and replace this plug.  Any tips on how best to make sure it doesn’t leak anymore.    Thanks.   Fred.

    Hi Fred

Download the latest issue of the maintenance manual heavy, MMH, from www.flyrotax.com or from www.rotax-owner.com

The small cap is installed from the inside of the gearbox, it must be removed.  There will be instructions on how to remove the small screw and plate that hold the plate in place.  The O-ring is not the complete problem, the ring fits into the bore and this has a parting line from the 2 case halves.  When you insert the plate with the new O-ring be sure to apply a small film of Loctite 5910 sealant on the part line.  This wil stop the oil pressure from pushing past the ring.

You may have a problem with excessive back pressure inside the engine.  The check for that is found in the installation manual.  if the crankcase pressure is too high this can make the problem worse.  Be sure that the pressure is within limits.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info. I looked in the manuals and couldn’t find anything, old eyes I guess.

Fred, made  you a different view from the IPC pages, shows it more clearly.  Install from the gearbox side only.  Be sure to use a drop of Loctite on the screw also.

    Cheers
