I see that the Rotax Operators manual has a list of recommended 50% antifreeze, 50% water antifreezes types.  How does one choose?

    Hi Michael,

All the coolants listed are approved.

Go with the one readily available in your area or shop around for the most cost effective.

I preferer to use a well known brand, hopeing it will still be available in the (service) years to come. If you did have to change a brand/type it is recommended that you flush the system - just another job than can be avoided with a bit of forethought.

These days most brands, in Australia, are offered in both concentrate and Pre/Mix. The choice is yours, I prefer the concentrate & do my own mixing 50:50, with pure water.

Should you be unable to find a listed coolant, Rotax do give a standard. I have found that any coolant listed for a modern European car  is likly to be okay for use in your Rotax.

    😈

    Hi Michael,

I see you live in the US. Most use Dex Cool 50-50 extended life coolant. It has an orange cap on the bottle.

Thanks Roger.  I realized after I posted this question that there are probably previous threads with this very same question.  I should have searched before posting!  I tried to delete my post, but couldn't figure out how to do it.  Mike
