rotax 914 discontinued
I fly a Stemme that uses the 914-f. I got notice from them that this motor is being discontinued. They gave us until tomorrow to order a replacement.
Did anyone know about this discontinuance?

I also own a Stemme, but I am not planning to buy a spare engine. I think it is just crazy. My engine has 330h in 20 years. This is more or less equivalent to a car with 33.000Km. Why would someone think about replacing an engine like this? I don't use it in a commercial operation nor for instruction, so I plan to use it on condition until it has some serious issue. And even then, an overhaul costs around 33% of a new engine, excluding work labor cost.
If Rotax discontinues the 914 now, until when will they be able to overhaul and supply spare parts for these engines?

Hi Joaquim
Since your Stemme is a certified engine they have 15 years after the stop of production. Experimental they allow 10 years. That is the published support for any discontinued engine model.
Cheers

That's what I thought! So if I don't have any issues until then I worry about this in 2040! 😎
