A question arose around the hanger today about what happens to the ignition system of you experience a total electrical failure in flight. Do you loose ignition and start looking for a landing place, or will the system continue to provide enough to keep the engine running?

Ignition and charging system are two seperate systems - engine will continue to run while you decide the best/safest course of action😈

Each ignition system is powered with its own independent power supply coil in the back of the engine. They don't share any common components other than the magnetic rotor on the back of the engine. If you have a problem with that then ignition problems will be the least of your worries!
