    Hi fellow fliers,

I read your posts. I'm very interested in the subject. Nobody I asked seems to use it or even know about the benefits or inconvenients or aplying/not aplying it. I would preciate any knowlegable comments on the beneficial facts. What about residues falling into the combustion chamber, is it necesary to throughly blow them out before replacing the plugs in place.

    Thank you.

The paste will fill thread gaps, make the temp between plug and surrounding metal even and a side benefit is it will lube the plugs. This is silicone based so don't get it down on the electrode as it will cause misfiring. If it is applied correctly it will not get into the cylinder or further down to the plug tip. It is in the Line Maint. manual and has been for a long time. I know many a GA owner with a Continental and Lycoming that have switched from the anti seize to this thermal conducting paste. By the way we do not put anti seize on a Rotax plug. I can tell if a GA A&P has worked on a Rotax when I find anti seize on the plugs.
When applying the thermal conducting paste do not glob it on. Just a smooth thin application. In this case less is more.

Do not use this on 2 strokes.

    Hello,

All well but could too much paste cause electrical isolation or ignition problems and if true there is definitively a airworthiness issue.

I need to know this or otherwise it remains a hypothesis.

    Best regards Jan

    Hi Jan,

The paste will not harm a thing. The only issue if you get sloppy and put it on the electrode of the plug it will misfire, but the engine would run. It is called for in the Line maint. manual so it isn't an issue and thousands of people use it without issues.
Use it, it has a purpose.
