I keep hearing different ways to change oil and filter. What is the approved method?
Thanks, Kurt

    Hi Kurt,

Rotate the prop until you here the gurgle. Drain the oil tank. Do not rotate the prop after you drain the tank or break any oil lines or you will need to do an oil purge. Replace the filter. The new filters can not be pre-filled. Check the mag plug for debris. Re-fill the oil tank with 3 qts of oil. Rotate the prop 20-30 times to fill the oil filter. Your done

    Hi Andre,

You have a required 25 hr. inspection that must be done to maintain your warranty and if you are using 100LL this is the time to change your oil and filter. 25 hr. changes for 100LL. There is a recommended, but not mandatory, inspection at 50 hrs, but you need to always do 100 hr. inspections. The 25 hr is the same as the 100 hr. If you are using 91 auto fuel then a good place to change oil is at 50 hr. marks even though Rotax does say you can go longer. The majority of the people I know and what is discussed in school is 50 hr. changes with auto fuel, but the finial choice is up to you. I prefer and so do all of the Rotax owners I personally know have chosen the 50 hr. oil and filter change interval.

    Hi,
I have used 912UL i attand to assemble on my PPC.
The engine is bare and with no OIL inside.
Oil filter is dry and new-Never being used.

Do I need to make oil purge? if yes then how it is done?

    Hi Nir,

You absolutely need to do an oil purge or you will ruin your engine. The procedure is in the Rotax Installation manual section 13.10 and there is a video here on this website.

Do not cut corners with a new engine. You need to download all the Rotax manuals that pertain to your engine here from this website. It is in the above tab labeled "Support" and then at the bottom of that tab it says manuals.
