That brings up a related question: In general there seems to be a pretty reasonable rule around here of "don't use any additives (oil, fuel, whatever) that aren't officially tested and approved."
Has anyone else besides me ever dumped such carb cleaners through their Rotax fuel system with good, neutral, or bad results, or have any specific knowledge about that practice?
Another additive I have heard of some Rotax and other aircraft engine owners using is Sta-bil (very popular for marine engines and Rotax engines on Snowmobiles) --- the claims for which include if an engine is going to sit unused for a long period (over winter) with fuel in it it keeps the fuel from degrading, and it keeps alcohol from causing the rare but dreaded phase separation problem.

Any specific knowledge here about that?
(Other than the fact that Rotax officially approves use of 10% ethanol (Yeah, I know that despite that there are still some reasons to avoid it) the only fuel additive I recall ever seeing Rotax officially approve is somewhere (maybe in my old original Rotax manual?) their mentioning putting 2% isopropal alcohol (which is drug store rubbing alcohol) in to remove water from fuel systems.)
