If it starts but will not rev and presents as if the motor is flooding this can be caused by the sprag clutch jumping around. I start my 912 cold by
Step 1 mags off, throttle closed, choke on. Crank for 5 seconds
Step 2 mags on, throttle just off idle, choke off . Always fires then use choke and throttle to balance.

The Sprag clutch has been replaced at the time your message is received; actually the engine is starting despite of cold operation (-3 C degrees last week) altough it takes too long time to fire up, in the order of 6 revolutions, stressing the whole system. Im installing a primer in order reduce the starting time, at least i suppose.
Good battery but little starter plus old ignition system.
Wich component should be updated first, the starter or ignition system?

No question. Put the high torque starter on first. It will make a huge difference. It may take care of your starting issue.

    Jorge

    I agree with Roger 100%.

Change your starter and it will be like a different engine.
