Hi Guys,

I have just installed used 912UL on my PPC.
All wires and ground are correctly connected.
When turning the kill mag to off, the engine sometimes stop but sometimes doesn't!.
When the engine doesn't stop I need to unplugged the lower CDI connector and plug it back after that the engine again is stopping but one out of 10's off's it will keep running.

I think there is a problem with the lower CDI, but asking for your advise:

1.Is there a different between the two CDI?
2.Do anyone familiar with this kind of problem/
3>can you come up with solutions or any Idea's?

Thank you all in advanced.

Nir

    Hi Nir,

I doubt it is the ignition module. Even though a module can fail they are usually fairly bullet proof. If it was a module issue it should be there all the time and not intermittent.
This type of thing is usually the wiring. This can usually be attributed to a poor ground somewhere. This is where I would start. You may have a ground, but it may not be a good one.
Check the two white wires that that go into the corner of each 6 pin ignition module plug and make sure they are firmly in place and that one is not partially broken.

    Hi Nir

I would also check the wires on both modules. If they are the older type there were problems with the wire core breaking, but the PVC sheath looked perfectly ok. This used to cause all sorts of intermittent problems, but the most common one was the one you are describing.

The easiest way of checking is to pull each wire between the plug and module, if the core has failed the wire will stretch.

    Cheers Mark.

    Nir,

You might also check the switches and wiring in the whole kill switch circuit. A loss of ground anywhere in the circuit or a bad switch could cause the problem. If you have to unplug the lower CDI, then that's the one that has the ground problem. The other one is cutting off as it should.

    Guys,

    Fix the problem.
    It was indid the CDI..:(
I found out that there is a link of 282 Ohm between the Kill engine white wire from the CDI to the ground in the faulty CDI while at the other one I had no conductivity at all.
I have checked all that you recommended, but problem was solved only after replacing the CDI with another.

Thank you for the good advices.
