2009 912UL 100HP with 350 hours - aux generator/alternator not installed
Not running and idling - voltage 12.5 volts
greater than 3000 rpm - voltage 15.5 volts
Usually had about 14.5 volts for first 300 hours
Changed to a gel battery - would this cause the voltage to go up.
Attached a Fluke voltmeter to the charging circuit - It reads the same as the panel voltmeter
Battery, instruments and radios work great.
Is there an adjustment to lower the regulator output?
Should I leave well enough alone?

    Tony,

14.5 is the ideal voltage but 15.5 is not unusual. It doesn't get dangerous to your electronics or battery until it gets up to 17 or 18. Sometimes changes in loads, such as a different battery type or additional usage loads can cause the voltage to rise slightly. You can't adjust the DC output but I wouldn't worry unless the voltage continues to climb.

    Hi Bill and Tony,

I think 15.5 VDC is too high and should be down to approximately 14.2V. Some only have around 13.8VDC. You may have a reg/rec going out or failing. If you have another Rotax 912 at the field then maybe he would let you try his to rule it out. Once they get that high I usually change them out. If your putting that much VDC to the battery on a long flight on a regular basis it may not last a long time.

High voltage problem solved. Loose connection on the regulator "C" terminal. Tightened the connection and the voltage is normal.
