An easy question for those that know, are the inlet and outlet valves in both the 80hp and 100 hp 912 the same? Are they interchangable?

Yes they're the same valve. Over the years some of the other parts associated with them have changed. You need the serial number of the engine in question to get the right versions. Do not swap valves from one engine to another or from one cylinder to another. The intake is a 38mm (part 854-108)and the exhaust is 32mm (part 854-118).

What's the problem with putting say valves from 100hp into a 80hp? What other parts have changed? What if springs and retainers were swapped across also?

    Hi James

There is no problem swapping the valves over from one engine to another.

If they are within wear limits and are lapped in when installed, it would be no different than fitting a new valve.

What is the problem with your old valves?

There are no problems as yet but have a low time damaged 100hp engine and a number of 80hp engines on the field. Just good to have a few cheap spare parts on hand...
