Could someone enlighten me on what material the plastic looking thrust washer in the propellor gearbox on 912's is made of, and why is it so darn expensive?? :(

    Hi Robert

I know what you mean, mine has just failed. I had a few bad starts and decided to check my friction torque which was way down.

I stripped the gear box and found it had broken in half. One half was in the box, the other half had vanished.

As well as a new washer, it costs an oil change and filter.

    Mark.

    Hi Robert,
I believe it is Delrin, but don't quote me on that. Your right the plastic doesn't cost that much. I used to use a lot of it in my Mfg.
