Does anyone know what the best paint brand and color match is for the 914 engine valve covers?

I was hoping that there would be spray cans available of the same or similar high temp paint.

    Ken,

Most any auto supply house can sell you what you need in spray cans. If you use the high temp sprays, you are sometimes limited in color choices but red is pretty common in the high temp colors. The rocker arm covers don't get too hot and I have used normal spray enamal on them on occasion. Be sure it is enamal though, and not lacquer. The lacquer will not stand the heat. Also, give the enamel a couple of days to try properly or it may blister.

It is interesting that I asked Lockwood what the color was and they emailed the factory with the same question. The answer came back later the same day that it was Dry Lack powder coating rather than paint.
Regardless, I am going to try to touch up with some VHT high temp brake paint, color red. So far the match looks pretty good.

Don't know why I didn't think of powder coating. It might be a little more expensive but is definitely heat resistant and is a tough finish. Any local powder coating shop could match the color.
