    Roger ...

    Let me rephrase the question.

    If one uses a substantial amount of avgas and adds the suggested amount of Decalin, can the suspended lead in the oil actually be seen when the oil is changed? As I tried to ask before, is the lead visibly detectable by its color and/or texture when compared to the oil itself?

    Yes it can be seen when drained at oil change.

    Can you elaborate a little on that? I'm told the lead may be in the form of a "paste". If so, I'm thinking it is bound together and is actually separate from the oil. Maybe lighter in color?

    Hi Dale,

    You'll see it in both places. In the draining oil and the heavier paste will be on the bottom of the tank. You will see in your gearbox too after hundreds of hours of 100LL use. Yu will see it on the pistons, valves, heads, plugs,exhaust ports, ect...

    Lead, bah humbug.

    Hi Dale,
