I just started up my new 912ULS and everything went fine, but I have two questions:

1. Is there any break-in procedure? I can't seem to find anything in the Rotax literature.

2. There was a green tag on my engine that said after startup to do an ignition check, a leakage check and to remove the float bowls and check for contaminant. I know how to do the float bowl check, but what are the other two checks?

    James,

The leakage check is just an overall external check to be sure you are not losing any fuel, oil, or coolant anywhere. Some places to look are the rocker arm covers, the pushrod tubes, the crankcase center seam, the prop shaft, and the weep hole under the water pump.

Just as an added precaution, after you have run the engine a while, you might want to check the dipstick to see if any coolant is in the oil. (not likely) Also look in the radiator fill cap for an oily sheen on the coolant. (also not likely)

The ignition check is just to see if both mags are working. I would also sync the carbs.

    Bill.

No official break-in procedure. Warm it up, check to se that it will go to full throttle and you are ready to go.

    Hi James,

    What Bill said. ;)

Don't forget to do the MANDATORY warranty inspection at 25 hrs. or risk loosing your warranty which could be costly IF any thing cropped up.
