Hi all.

I'm in the process of replacing all my radiator and coolant hoses on my Rotax 912S powered Titan Tornado II. It's all gone fairly smooth except for two collant hoses on either side, and on top of the engine. These terminate on coolant elbows that sit right under each intake manifold. The phillips head screws which secure the hose clamps (they are in vertical orientations) seem inassessible.

The only way I can see to remove them is with a very short hack saw blade and to replace them when adding the new hose with clamps that have a hex head that would allow a small wrench to tighten the new clamps, OR remove the intake manifolds.

I considered removing the socket head cap screws that secure the flange and coolant elbow to the cylinder head, but one bolt on each flange on both sides of the engine is also positioned directly under the intake manifold. I could grind an allen wrench down to possibly fit into the small space between screw and manifold, but could well run into interferance problems as the bolt is turned for removal.

Am I missing something here? Is there something I'm not considering? Any ideas??

Thanks,
Ron

    Hi Ron,

If you need to remove the 4 screws that secure the air intake manifolds and move them slightly out of the way to get to your clamp screws. Then replace the air intake manifolds and torque the screws to 90 in/lbs. make sure the "O" ring stays in the grove and don't drop anything down inside the air intake.

    Ron,

Sometimes those O rings swell and don't like to go back in the groove if they pop out. Dry them off and lay them out in a sunny spot for a few hours and they will usually shrink enough stay in the groove.
