Rotax 912 13VAC @ 2000RPM

Hi. I have problem with charging lamp enabled under 2200RPM. Voltage in installation is around 13VDC.

I checked generator coil resistance (around 0,8OHM) and Voltage (around 13VAC @ 2000RPM and 30V @ 4500RPM).

I not sure if 13VAC @ 2000RPM isn't to low? Coil looks good (resistance) but how about voltage..

14 to 16 volts AC is the normal range at 2000 rpm but it is only a average reading, not a hard value. Maybe be the ground between the stator and the ignition housing is bad? Any sign of corrosion in the stator area? Sometimes a leaking exhaust pipe will cause a lot of corrosion. Try removing the screws (through the lightening holes in the flywheel)and see if they are corroded. If not too bad you can polish the screw contact area on the stator and replace the screws with new washers. Put dielectric grease such as DC-4 on the contact surfaces to prevent further corrosion.
If you remove the bolts and corrosion is bad you need to remove the stator and clean up the contact surfaces.

Hm, i have to remove engine for this. There is not a lot of space. I'll try to check it. Strange is that at high RPM (4000) i reads about 30V on AC wires but still 13V after regulator...

The best is replace regulator and check but I haven't.

This is important to have good ground connection between stator and housing? I thought that coil's are totally separated from ground.

as far as I know the metal core of the stator needs to be grounded to the ignition housing.

You're right, I just found it's in manual.
I wonder, there is no problem's with ignition system. If stator is bad grounded it shouldn't absorb ignition?
