Does anyone have any good theories why oil would be leaking from an exhaust port on a 12 hour engine?

All thoughts are welcome.

Have you checked the nut torque yet? Maybe unequal tightening on one side verses the other and the pipe is not square up against the opening. The flared part of the exhaust pipe should seal up against the exhaust port opening. I would loosen it up and move it around slightly then torque it all back up and watch it.

    Hi Roger

Yes they are tight and the joint looks good, Ive never seen this before, at least not on a new engine.

I would still completely loosen it, clean it well and torque everything back up. It could just have some debris between the flared end and the exhaust port.
