Where are you in France? I'm also in france (Normandy, you can land with your ultralight no problem). I am balancing propellers and autogyro and helicopter rotors with a Smart Avionics PB3
    http://www.smartavionics.com/
I recently did a test comparing the PB3 with the world standard Vibrex (15,000 euros) and they gave exactly the same result. At 550 UK pounds (+TVA) this PB3 is the best value for money I've come across for a long time. If you're not far away perhaps I could help you. I shall be in the Toulouse area around 7 June.

Mike , I live between Normandie and Bordeaux ,along the Atlantic
The field is " La Baule " - LFRE .
if I need help then dynamically balanced, I will contact you.
Thank you very much, Mike, for your offer of help

What interest me much in the Balance Masters is the "active balancing" at all engine speeds.
my question is: what's going on with the master balances, when the speed of the motor changes
So , in a few days, I'll buy one , and in a few months, I will explain my experience on this forum
Thank you to all the contributors of the forum for their opinion

look at the beautiful region where I fly !! B)

    Hello Mike,

I am very much interested in buying one of these devices if they are as you say very effective. Are they complicated to operate? Are the results satisfactory? Can I use it on all kind of Gyro Rotors?

If I want to purchase a device to use on fix wings and rotary wings, what additional accessories would I need to have?

Thank you for sharing the above! This could be the answer to our prayers in this part of the world!

    Hi Andre,

My balance masters is on his way to France with UPS.
As soon as I will have installed it on my 912 ULS, I'll send you the results on this forum.
Installation is very easy, it's mounted behind the the spinner plate.
Have a look at the following link with pics of how to mount the balance masters:
    http://www.aeroplans-blaus.com/en/balance-masters/334-balance-masters-helice-912.html
I've seen at the Museum of the bourget (Paris) something similar mounted on the first BMW jet engines of the Messerschmidt 262.
About the installation on a gyro copter rotor, I don't know if it's working fine. I guess it's all about trying it but I don't have the gyro copter.
Still 2 or 3 weeks to wait to have some background on it then we'll know.

I will be in Brittany this summer near Quimper probably with my autogire, so perhaps I could fly down to La Boule.

The PB3 is pretty easy to use as a prop balancer just follow the instructions. The only problem I found with my 914 was that the prop bolts are very close to the centre and adding a few washers didn't have a big effect on my prop that had a big unbalance.

It is a little bit more demanding for autogyro rotors mainly because autogyro rotors are not all the same and different gyros and rotors respond differently to unbalance. So you need to do a couple of flights with different unbalance conditions (a mass at each blade tip and then shift the rotor chordwise along the "teeter bolt"). This establishes the correction lines or "move lines" on a polar chart. Again this may appear daunting at first but is pretty easy once you get to understand the process. I know a couple of French guys who are using the PB3 with the English manual and their English wasn't very good so it's not rocket science. The manual is pretty good as well and Mark Burton (the developer at Smart Avionics) is pretty reactive to emails questions, and I'm happy to help if I can.
