912 UL 80 HP Fuel Consumption

Hello everybody,
I have been using my 912 Ul 80HP for about 14 years.
I have recently noticed that the fuel consumption is about 20 litres/h which is sensibly higher than the 16 -17 litres/h that I have obseved in the past running at 5000 rpm and 27.2 MAP.
Not to menthion the 15 litres/h that the manual states...

What would be the causes for this sensible fuel consumpiton increase?
My engine has run for 1300 hours to date.

Hi Zeb,

Have you done a carb rebuild? Have you checked things with a carb sync? Fuel may have even leaked from the system somewhere and you haven't seen it yet?

Hi Roger,
I have done all those things about 300 hours ago. Based on my continous checks I have no reason to suspect of any fuel leackage on the system.

Hi Zeb,

Carb sync should be done every 100 hrs or annual which ever comes first. They will almost always be out of sync. Some more or less than others.

Unless fuel is coming out of somewhere it shouldn't (carb over flow pipes, etc) then it must be going into the engine.

That being the case then how about the following:

Carb float level too high.

Main jet worn.

Main needle worn.

What do the plugs look like, are they black and sooty?

Accordining to the chart the Typical Fuel Consumption for Rotax 912 UL engine is: 19.2 L/h at 75% power (5000RPM 27.2 MAP) while at 65% is 4800 RPM 15.8 L/h.
