I am running the 912ULS. What is the spark plug gap supposed to be?

It's in the Line Maint. Manual. .023 to .027
wider gap for hotter summer weather, smaller gaps for the cold winter weather.

You should print out all 5 of the 912 manuals. These are your Bibles for your engine.

    Roger
I just purchased a 912 ULS built in 2001. Does the measurement you stated apply to all 912ULS irrespective of date of build?
    Thanks

Roger. I'm running a 912 UL with 800+ hrs on it. I have been told to set the plug gap at .035. Now I hear that .025 is the norm for a hotter spark and better fuel economi. What say ye?

    Hi Andy,

Just curious who told you .035 and where that person got their info?

The manuals and all the Service letters are your Bible so to speak.
You can find almost anything in these.
The gap spec on the plugs for the 912 series engine is in the Line Maint. manual. Section 13.2.2.

Gapping out to .035 will give a poor spark, may lead to an incomplete combustion, hard starts, poor fuel economy and inaccurate mag drop numbers. If you start at .035 gap then during its use it will grow even more.

The hard starts could cause excessive wear on the gearbox, starter and sprag clutch.
