The recent mandatory carburetor float inspection requires you to check carb part number and serial number. I have looked everywhere for these numbers and can't find them. Where are they located, and does this require taking the carb off the engine?

    Hi Jim,

You will need to look on the side of the carb opposite the choke. The serial number is in the position equivalent to where the choke would be fitted if it were on that side. The part number is on the web just above where the throttle linkage would be fitted if it too were on that side.

Take a look at this photo.

    Thanks Kevin.
Looks like I will need to remove the carb to be able to see these numbers.

If you remove the mounting spring and slacken off the clamp around the carb mounting rubber you can carefully rotate the carb until you can see the writing on the back. That will save disturbing too much.

You can also use this technique to improve access to the float chamber if you need to remove the floats.

When you're finished just realign the carb, tighten the clamp and hook the spring back into place.

    Hi
Any news when these new floats are ready to be delivered, and will they be supplied free of charge?
