    why would you want to complicate the cooling system? It just introduces more failure points.
    There is no minimum coolant or CHT temp so why would you want install one? for cabin heat?

    It could also depend of the cowling and the installation of the water cooler.

    I have a Rans S-6 with the water cooler mounted directly above the carbs and the intake of air to the cooler flows down to the carbs which means that i always have warm air floating over the carbs. I have no other heater and have never had any ice problems during 16 years and 1200 flight hours.
