Dear 912 users,

After about 500 hours my 912S oil pump start to leak. Not much but enough to be irritating.
I changed all O-rings and reinstalled the pump according to heavy maintenance manual. all bolts at
10 NM. Looks better but not 100% perfect. One year after it sweating oil again.

The pump it self has no damage.

I am going to replace O rings again, just to roll out the possibility that they not sit correctly.

If anyone has noted something similar, it would be nice share that information.

Thanks in advanced
Stephan

    Hi Stephan,

First just make sure the oil isn't weeping out of the bottom of the gearbox and just fooling you.
If it is the pump "O" ring again you can use a little Loctite 5910 on it to help seal it better. You do not need to use a lot. Clean the sealing surfaces with a scotchbrite pad. Just clean it up don't get carried away and then clean the surface with some lacquer thinner before you put it back on the crankcase.

Thanks Roger for your quick reply.
I am quite sure it is the pump that is leaking but I will conduct an extra inspection today before putting 5910 on the O rings

I had similar, it was from gearbox sealing. I removed gearbox, cleaned, putted new glue and now everything is fine.

The bottom of the gearbox leak fools many people. Clean the area well then start it up and take a look.

Tip for hard to find leaks:
If you really want to take a good look and be sure you can clean the area well and spray the area with some Desonex Foot powder. It is white and any leak no matter how minute will show up like a red flag.

Thank you Przemysław and Roger to guide me to the real leakage: bottom of the gearbox.
