Hi

I took a long flight last week, could not get the oil temp up to 50 Deg C. I was around -20 to 10 Deg C. Oil pressure perfect. It seemed to get worse longer into the flight 1 Hour in to a 3 Hour flight.

I checked all the wiring from the sensor pick up to the IEFIS control box all perfect. I took a flight this morning remained in the circuit 20 Min. it was perfect on start up waited to 50 Deg before take off stayed between 30 Deg to 60 Deg. Outside temp around 7 Deg.

Should I replace the sensor?

    Hi Sean,

I would troubleshoot just a tad more. It will only take a few minutes.
This oil temp probe which is the same as the CHT probe is fairly bullet proof. They tend to really last. This issue you are having is usually a loose connection, bad wire or the gauge. Here is a quick tip to check the probe. Swap the wire on the #2 CHT probe with the one on the oil temp and see if the problem is the probe or the wire. If you put the oil temp wire on the CHT probe and the CHT is off then it isn't the probe and you need to check the wires again. Make sure the wire connector on the probe is snug and not too loose.

The probes could be swapped, but I think the wire is easier.
