    Thank you. Don’t know why I didn’t think to call Mac at Skybound Aviation.

    Hi Jeff,

    Just food for thought;

    What do you do or use when you can't get a spring puller in place? Many cowled aircraft today are awful compact and crowded now days. I tried spring pullers a long time ago, but had too much trouble with them in these tight spaces or trying to get enough leverage or the right angle to use enough muscle to pull them off. What I have been using for the last 15 years is a pair of 12" long needle nose pliers. I have taken a Dremel tool with a cut-off blade and put notches in both sides of the jaws. Then I can put the spring shank in the grooved area where it won't slip or cut and can now not only get into tight areas, but use all my arm and shoulder strength to pull them off or put them back on. This doesn't damage the spring, but sure makes it easier in tighter areas. The long pliers gives so much more leverage with all your strength and body that removing or installing is quite easy.

    Would love to see a photo of those pliers, Roger.
